Expansion News

Improved Conditions, Improved Progress

As the Bryan-College Station community has started to experience drier weather over the past few weeks, we’ve seen quite a bit of progress with the Rec Sports Expansion.

The roof decking for the new gym is close to completion. Once completed staff will begin constructing the walls that will enclose the gymnasium.

The grade beams for the new indoor lap pool have officially been set. The next step of the process is pouring concrete for the basement floor.

The concrete for the first half of the main floor of the weight room has been poured; and the concrete for the basement of the second half of the weight room currently being poured. The rebar, which will be used to strengthen the concrete for the first half of the second floor, has been set. During the next step of the process, we will see the concrete for the new balcony being poured.

We are currently experiencing closures on courts 7 & 8 as well as closures on part of the indoor track from 6:00am – 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, until further notice. In addition, please excuse the mess as we are in the process of replacing the old roof and currently replacing the foam.

The Rec Sports Expansion/Renovation completion date has been scheduled, but could potentially change. Texas A&M Rec Sports Senior Associate Director, Rick Hall states “currently work on the Rec Sports Expansion/Renovation is scheduled to be significantly complete in March of 2016.”

Thanks & Gig ‘Em,

Texas A&M Rec Sports
