Expansion News

Fences Up, Pools Empty, Weight Room Relocating

The first signs of the Rec Sports expansion have appeared, and construction fencing is now surrounding the building. Only half of the circle drive is accessible, and the parking spaces directly south of the facility between Rec Sports and Blue Bell Park are also out of commission until further notice.  On a happier note, there is still temporary parking available in lot 104  for our members to use throughout their daily workouts.

Empty Pools

The natatorium is one of the major renovations of our project, and an extreme makeover to the aquatics facility is already underway. As of May 8, the 50-meter and the instructional pools have been emptied. In addition, construction crews have also already begun clearing out the aquatics mechanical room to make way for the incoming equipment upgrades.

Weight Room Relocating

Today, Rec Sports has begun transforming courts 1 and 2 to serve as the interim weight and fitness room throughout the expansion. Once specialized flooring is installed to protect the hardwood, almost all of the weight and fitness equipment will be relocated to the courts. As a result, the weight room will be closed from Monday, May 12 through Friday, May 16. There will be NO ACCESS to the weight room during these dates.  Strength and cardio equipment on the 2nd and 3rd floors will still be available for use.
